Today I made my first 100% homemade pie! No store-bought crust this year. I found a recipe on a cooking blog that looked delectable. I was somewhat aprehensive about the whole pie crust thing, but it went smoothly. 
The crust smelled so sweet and nutty from the finely crushed almonds and lots of butter.
The apples looked so festive! I used mostly granny smiths, with a few galas.
So, now the pie is nicely wrapped up and tucked away on the corner of the counter awaiting the festivities tomorrow. I can hardly wait to try it, complete with a scoop of the vanilla ice cream. What a fun adventure! Check out the recipe:
